I was commissioned by The New Yorker to create an illustration to accompany an article about farming in California. The article, written by Anna Wiener, is titled 'Growing Uncertainty in the Central Valley', and can be seen here. When researching California's farmland, I was struck by the patchwork-like structure of the fields and their varying colours. This was my starting point for the piece.
